A Quick Trip to Mérida

A Quick Trip to Mérida
It's been a while since I've attended a destination wedding! I was lucky to spend a long weekend this past week celebrating a very dear couple in Mérida, Mexico.
If it wasn't enough to take part in one of the most gorgeous, hoarse voiced, delightful, smile-cramped, joyful, mascara-running, delicious weddings to date, guests were also able to be tourists in this charming capital of Yucatán.
Here's a super quick highlight reel:
- At the very last minute, I changed my hotel booking to Hotel Boutique Casa Angel, to be closer to the action. It was literally, in the middle of the weekend action, and a great simple hotel option!
- Our hosts weren't wrong when they said we'd fall in love with Soco. I ate there 2.5 times in four days. Their Pan de Muerto was superb, as was their green juice.
- I got my only two souvenirs at this exhibit, after exploring Museo Casa Montejo on Plaza Grande.
- The Yucatan Symphony Orchestra performs in a great modern hall, the Palace of Music. I was lucky to catch a noontime performance- a great way to spend a couple of hours (and avoid the hottest part of the day!)
- I enjoyed the most delicious meal in my recent memory at Ramiro Cocina. I walked in for a very late lunch, and they happened to be celebrating their third anniversary with a sweet live DJ and celebratory vibes. Lucky for me, they squeezed me in at the chef's counter where I could take in all the action.
- I loved perusing some of my favorite Mexican designers at Casa T´HŌ Concept House! Carla Fernandez is a forever favorite, as are Yakampot and Sandra Weil. I resisted purchasing any pieces, as I'll be headed to Mexico City in February on a dedicated shopping trip. (More on that later!)
This is just a taste... Happy to share more recommendations, just ask! I would highly recommend putting this gorgeous destination on your "go-to" list.
